Description:

Oplink’s model OPM 192 is a state of the art off-air Infra-Red data modem. The OPM 192 is an asynchronuous transparent full duplex RS-232 serial data modern capable of data rates of up to 195 KBPS.

When used for indoor applications, the model OPM 192 does not require a line of sight in order to maintain a satisfactory communication link. When used for outdoor applications, a line of sight is required.

The OPM 192 electronic and mechanical design feature high immunity to external RF noise interference. These qualities combined with the unit’s innovative assembly results in an ideal solution for an off-air data link in locations subject to RF radiation such as laboratories, computer rooms, engine rooms and even for security and military applications.

The model OPM 192 is the ideal solution for computer data communication within the office, such as from a PC computer to another computer, printer, plotter or other peripheral. The need for rigid and non-flexible cable installation is eliminated.

Full duplex implementation:

This feature is achieved thanks to the existence of two independent communication channels.

There are two types of OPM 192 units, namely: OPM 192 – A and OPM 192 – B.

The Tx of Type A with the Rx of Type B constitute one channel.

The Tx of Type B with the Rx of Type A constitute the second channel.

Each channel is modulated and demodulated independently and there is no cross- talk between channels.

Therefore in order to make a link Type A can communicate only with a type B unit and viceversa.
